Parish Meeting on Creating a Culture of Repair & Other Events

We were delighted to have over 30 parishioners join in our October 5, 2025, parish meeting on creating a culture of repair at Emmanuel Church. The prompt for small-group discussion was: “What does it mean for Emmanuel Church to become a parish doing reparations?” A summary will be forthcoming from this Vestry-sponsored event. For now, we note that we are building on much good work done in our community in years past; and the work continues.

Much is happening this fall in the Boston area.  King’s Chapel live-streamed its Homecoming and Memorial Service on September 14, 2025, which preceded the unveiling of “Unbound,” by artist Harmonia Rosales.

To commemorate Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend, Massachusetts’s two Episcopal Dioceses announced that Sunday, October 12, 2025, would be marked as a Day of Remembrance and Lamentation for the injuries done to Native people across the Commonwealth.  A second day of remembrance will be observed on October 13, 2025, with A Sacred Journey to Deer Island. Deer Island was “the internment site where hundreds of Native people from the ‘praying towns’ died from exposure and starvation in the winter of 1675-1676.”

May we join them in spirit and in truth.
