Book recommendations from the Museum of African American History and from the Diocese of Massachusetts Racial Justice Book Group are in!
The shortlist for the Stone Book Awards, sponsored by the Museum of African American History, Boston and Nantucket (MAAH), has been released. The three finalists will be announced at a ceremony on October 8 at 6:30 PM at the historic African Meeting House, 46 Joy Street, Beacon Hill. A three-minute video
introduces the titles, authors, and publishers of this year’s non-fiction shortlist (hosted by Paris Alston of GBH’s Rooted).
In our diocese, the Racial Justice Book Group launched this past spring. The discussion of Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origin of our Discontents was led by various facilitators via Zoom. The book group has selected as its second title The Color of Compromise by Jemar Tisby. The Zoom discussions will be led by Father James Hairston of St. Augustine St. Martin Church and will take place on September 21, October 5, October 19, 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Details are forthcoming.
